Career transitions are never easy, especially when they happen during an already difficult personal phase.
After losing my father in December 2025, I returned to work and soon found myself navigating an unexpected career transition. Like many others in the industry, I began looking for my next opportunity.
The job market was, and is, challenging. Thousands of applications for a single opening. Highly experienced professionals competing for roles below their previous levels. Interview after interview. There were moments of self-doubt, uncertainty and anxiety — especially while managing financial commitments and responsibilities.
But this period also gave me something I had rarely had before: time to pause and reflect.
I moved back to my home city, spent more time with family and friends, and took a step back to think about what I really wanted to do next. I evaluated my experience, my strengths, the problems I enjoy solving, and the kind of work I truly value.
Eventually I realised that instead of continuously looking for the next job, I could build something of my own around what I already know and enjoy. That led me to start Veeraj Consulting.
What initially felt like an uncertain career gap became a period of reflection, learning, family, and finally, a new beginning. I am grateful for the experiences that brought me here, and excited about what comes next.
